COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

At this time we offer online classes and have opened the studio for a select number of classes and special workshops. We will continue to update our schedule as needed; adjusting our classes and workshops to best meet the needs of our movement community.

Classes and workshops are limited to groups up to 9 students for mat, aerial, and rope wall; and limited to 4 students for pole fitness. In-studio you can also book private individual and group classes (contact us to set up an appointment). These smaller format classes allow for social distancing and provide the opportunity for our teachers to give individualized attention to students; tailoring the practice to your needs.

Please note that we follow the Montgomery County mandate on mask requirement; you must register online, no walk-ins please; hammock kits and rentals are available. Securely suspended in a hammock that lets you control how deep and far you want to go while gliding, you’ll merge asanas and aerial arts for an experience that’s as exhilarating as it is empowering. From poses that improve alignment to supportive stretches that decompress your spine, Aerial Yoga takes a dynamic and safe approach to building strength, flexibility, balance, and stability.

Aerial Yoga is an invigorating outlet for curious young minds. Using an age-appropriate balance of energizing activity and calming techniques, our kids classes help students build strength, flexibility, focus, and confidence in a safe environment. We pay special attention to fun, infusing every moment with creativity and laughter. It’s the perfect environment for a young person to develop better body awareness and find support from an encouraging community.

Classes are offered for kids ages 6 to 10 and 11 and older no previous yoga experience necessary!

    In this 4 week series students will learn foundational spins, tricks, and poses, along with strength and conditioning exercises that will solidify your practice and aid in body awareness. All levels welcome, no experience required. Shorts strongly recommended.

  • Wednesdays, 6:30pm- 7:30pm

    A vigorous and elevating vinyasa practice that weaves creative sequencing into movement as meditation.

    The main standing sequences are repeated 3x on each side with modifications and progressions for each posture.

    The 3rd repetition of each sequence will allow students freedom to explore their practice on their mat without any verbal cue—this gives students a chance to follow the flow of the class or flow freely.

    Class is 60 minutes long. Expect groovy upbeat music, a challenging practice, and a deliciously well-deserved cool down.

    Time to level up and learn new tricks! In this workshop students will learn different Level 2 tricks to add to their aerial tool belt! It is recommended that students are able to get into a Pinata (also known as a Rodeo Cross) to attend this workshop.

  • Saturdays, 1:30pm- 2:30pm

    This outdoor Hatha class will help to bring balance and relaxation to the whole body through slow stretching, pranayama (breathing techniques), and alignment. We will take the body through a full-range of motion. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, ease of movement, and repetition to promote alignment, balance, strength, and flexibility. Steady the body to steady the mind.

    Learn how to conjure confidence in this body positivity workshop! We will be confronting the unfair expectations that we have set for our physical selves, and exploring ways to practice self-love through mindfulness and movement.

  • Sunday, 11:00am- 12pm

    If you are brand new to aerial yoga and aerial arts this is the workshop for you! In this 4-week series we will introduce you to some of the basics and prepare you for the other classes on the schedule.  If you have an interest in aerial arts this is the prerequisite for Intro to Flips & Tricks and Aerial Transitions along with approval from the teacher.

    Aerial Yoga is one of the fastest growing forms of yoga practice! Take Flight and join Jessie Hill, Traci Tufano & Flying Buddha Studio for Flow & Fly’s Aerial Yoga Teacher Training! 

    In this course, you will become a certified aerial yoga teacher and learn how to safely share this yoga practice with others of all levels. You can expect:

    • To improve your own aerial yoga practice! Learn new poses, transitions, refreshing your own aerial yoga love
    • To learn modifications and variations that you can share with students to make this practice accessible to all
    • To explore the range of this practice! From strength building fire, to restorative decompression of the body (and more!)
    • To find your teaching voice: find the confidence needed to make this practice encouraging, fun and safe
    • To gain a deeper understanding of aerial yoga in the body as we explore anatomy, physiology and the subtle body
    • To have access to Jessie Hill, Traci Tufano and the rest of the Flow & Fly network to support you in your teaching journey

    Level 1 contains 80 beginner/intermediate aerial yoga postures, with a focus on safe transitions between them (after all, it’s FLOW & fly).

    You will leave this class ready to teach! Expect to recoup your investment with the skills you learn in this training, which will prepare you to teach aerial yoga classes, privates, and workshops!

    The Flow & Fly Teaching Manual is a full-color resource that you will be able to use long after the training is over. The Flow & Fly Teaching Manual is only available to students enrolled in the teacher training (for an additional $125.00).

  • Wednesdays, 7:30pm- 8:30pm

    This 10-week beginners workshop explores Kundalini Yoga. Kundalini yoga is the yoga of personal experience. We use breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, and more to release energetic blocks. Kundalini Yoga harnesses the mental, physical, and nervous energies throughout the body. As more people are searching for non-medical practices to improve their health and emotional/spiritual well-being, an awareness has begun to surface of this “life force flow” and how it moves through the body. Many of the modalities will focus on freeing the flow of energy throughout the body to unblock and allow for the body to maintain health, increase healing, and generate an overall feeling of well-being. 

    About the instructor: Pam Reidinger is a teacher and healer who has been studying Kundalini Yoga since 2013. In 2011 Pam was diagnosed with a kidney condition and found herself headed toward a kidney transplant; Kundalini Yoga was the cornerstone….Pam is now stable and no longer needs a transplant—Kundalini Yoga literally saved her life! She continues her learning about these practices and delights in sharing about the positive impact it’s had on her life. As a practitioner of Sat Nam Rasayan which means “Deep Relaxation in True Identity” Pam meets students where they are in their journey. Our mutual goal is to become our best and most authentic selves.

  • Saturdays, 12:30- 2pm

    In this 6 week series students will build on skills that were taught in the Level 1 Aerial Dance series. Students will learn an aerial dance routine over the course of 5 weeks, ending with a performance for family and friends on the 6th week (In-studio or Zoom TBD). It is recommended that students are able to flip into the hammock from a standing position to attend this series.

  • Sunday, 1:30- 3pm

    During an average year, 85% of elite and recreational athletes are injured and 80% of all orthopedic injuries are sports or exercise induced. Too many people experience chronic pain and injury while doing something positive for their health. In this workshop, we will reveal a solution to achieve peak performance without painful side effects of training. Learn to self-treat the missing link just beneath your skin that remains untapped by exercise, yoga, stretching, or myofascial release techniques and gain immediate improvement in range of motion and alignment along with long-term benefits like improved performance and joint resilience. Workshop is open to athletes and non-athletes alike. No previous experience is necessary. MELT kits and rollers are available for sale at the workshop. Participants receive a MELT Map printout for at home treatment.

    The MELT Method is a simple self-treatment technique that eliminates chronic pain, improves flexibility, posture, and decreases the accumulated stress caused by the repetitive postures and movements of everyday living. Tap into your connective tissue system to enhance body awareness and release tension for vibrant health and pain-free movement. The first time you MELT, you’ll feel a difference!

    No previous experience is necessary. All equipment will be provided and sanitized but if you prefer to bring your own equipment please do so. You will need one soft ball from the hand and foot kit and a soft roller. Equipment will be available for purchase.

    Amy Liss is a Certified MELT Instructor, a Certified Nia Black Belt Instructor, and a Certified Ageless Grace Educator. She volunteers for Washington Women Outdoors, a DC area non-profit organization with a mission of empowering women, as a trip leader. She loves being active, playful, and outdoors; hiking, backpacking, biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, caving, and has done some rock climbing and tree climbing. Her passion is teaching seniors, people with Parkinson’s, and the homeless. She is a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Amy has a Master’s in Library Science and works in the information management field.

Finish off the weekend with some feel-good shapes and stretches, preparing yourself for the week ahead. You’ll build strength, create length and space in your body, while gaining awareness in each pose. Using the yoga wall, along with its various attachments (adjustable straps, swings, and bars) offers unique support and traction in the body that you just have to experience for yourself. Be prepared to start the week off feeling great!!

    The Yoga Trapeze ® is a unique inversion and suspension trainer designed to:

    Float away with a unique and relaxing sound healing experience… in an aerial hammock!

    In this 90 minute workshop, you will have the freedom to float and sway to the womb-like environment of the supportive, aerial yoga hammock. You’ll learn a few restorative aerial yoga poses, so that you can explore the most relaxing shapes for you during the workshop. Poses can be grounded or flying. After taking shape with the support of the aerial hammock, you’ll enjoy deep vibrational, highly tuned sounds from perfect-pitch crystal quartz singing bowls and chimes. These powerful vibrations can balance dissonant frequencies in the body, bringing them to harmony and creating feelings of relaxation and connection. Each bowl and tone represents a different energy system or chakra, for deeply healing effects. Bring your intentions and be prepared to float away into bliss. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and relaxed in a very unique way.

    Level 2 Aerial Yoga Teacher Training takes it up a notch and contains 80 postures and transitions! The sequence of postures warms up the body to prepare for more challenging core work, building upper body strength and deepening trust in yourself and the hammock!

    Expect to:

    • To deepen your own aerial yoga practice! Learn challenging new poses, transitions, refreshing your own aerial yoga love. To learn modifications and variations that you can share with students to make this practice accessible to all.
    • Learn how to teach to mixed levels and introduce prep and peak poses.
    • To find your teaching voice; find the confidence needed to make this practice encouraging, fun, and safe.
    • To gain a deeper understanding of aerial yoga in the body as we explore anatomy, physiology, mudras, and chakras.

    Our Level 1 Flow and Fly Aerial Yoga Teacher Training is the prerequisite for this training.
