The short answer is no, you don’t need any special equipment to practice yoga at home except for a yoga mat. A yoga mat provides grip and prevents your hands and feet from sliding as you practice different poses. For yoga practices that include the use of props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks, and/or straps, you have options: 1) Your teacher can suggest ways to modify the practice without the use of props. 2) There are many household items you can use in place of props: pillow(s) instead of a bolster; a belt or tie instead of a strap; a blanket from home; or a stack of books instead of a block. 3) Lastly, if you’d like to purchase a mat or props we got you covered!
